On the homepage, click or tap on the “Sign up” button to create a free account. There’s also a “Sign up” link in the menu at the top of the page when you view the site on a computer or laptop.

On the “Sign up” page you will need to:

Create a Username – It needs to be 4-15 characters and can’t include any spaces. Don't use personal information, like your name or phone number, as your username.

Create a Password – It needs to be 6-15 characters and can’t include any spaces.

Include your Email address (optional) – If you forget your username or password, we use your email to help you find them. We don't use your email for anything else. You don't have to enter an email. But if you don't enter an email, we can't help you login to your account later.

Make sure to write down your username and password. Keep them in a safe place.

On the homepage, click or tap on the “Login” button if you already have an account. There’s also a “Login” link in the menu at the top of the page when you view the site on a computer or laptop. You can login with your username or email and your password.

The ABC Skills Hub works on desktop or laptop computers, and on mobile devices like a phone or tablet.

The ABC Skills Hub uses a tool called Javascript to help the site run. Your internet browser settings need to allow Javascript for you to take a course. You can turn Javascript on by following the instructions here for the internet browser you use.

If you’re using a computer at work, in a library, or in an employment centre, you might not be able to change the internet browser settings yourself. You can ask for help from a supervisor or instructor.

On the homepage, scroll down to the “Featured courses” section and click or tap on the “View all courses” link. There’s also a “View all courses” link in the footer at the bottom of the page when you view the site on a computer or laptop.

After you login, click or tap on the “View all courses” link to choose a course. You can also search for a course by entering a word in the search field and clicking or tapping the “Search” button.

Once you find a course you’re interested in, click or tap on the course name to learn more. Click or tap on the button “Take this FREE course” to start the course.

After you login, click or tap on the “Mail” menu – if you see a number or ‘new’, you have a new message. Messages can be from your teacher (if a teacher helped you to create an account) or from ABC Life Literacy Canada. To read a message, click or tap on the underlined subject line.

You can only send new messages to your teacher (if a teacher helped you to create an account.)
After you login, click or tap on the “Mail” menu, then click or tap on the “Create new message” link on the top of the mail page. Select the course you have a question about, then add a subject and your message. When you’re finished, click or tap on “Send message” and your message will be sent.

Click or tap on the “Logout” link in the menu at the top of the page to end you session. There’s also a “Logout” link in the footer at the bottom of the page.
